چکیده
Kon K. 2015. Prevalence of multidrug resistant bacteria in General Surgery Hospital, Ukraine. Nusantara Bioscience 7: 102106. Rising antibiotic resistance is a serious concern worldwide and during prescribing antibiotic treatment it is important to know general and regional tendencies in spread of multidrug resistant strains. The aim of the present study was to evaluate regional specificity of the prevalence of multidrug resistant strains among agents of surgical infections, to determine the most common microbial associations and to detect the most active antibiotics against multidrug resistant bacteria. More than 60% of strains were multidrugresistant, with the highest prevalence of resistance among Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter spp., Proteus spp., and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Isolated multidrug-resistant bacteria showed susceptibility mainly to carbapenems and fluoroquinolones. The high prevalence of multidrug-resistant bacteria indicates the need for continuous monitoring of resistance in each hospital and to search for new methods to coping with this problem.

Investigating Class I, II and III Integrons in Multidrug Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Hospital Infections in Ahvaz
Background and Aims: The indiscriminate use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The presence of integrons in Pseudomonas is clearly associated with multidrug resistances. Therefore, this study aimed at tracking class I, II and III integrons of antibiotic-resistant isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa th...

Background: Multidrug resistance and production of extended spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) by enteric gram-negative rods in hospitals and community continue to be worsened. We aimed to characterize the multidrug resistance and determine the prevalence of ESBL production by clinical isolates of Enterobacteriaceae in southeast Iran. Methods: Gram-negative bacteria isolated from clinical samples of...
متن کاملMultidrug Resistance in Infants and Children
Bacterial infections may cause disease and death. Infants and children are often subject to bacterial infections. Antimicrobials kill bacteria protecting the infected patients andreducing the risk of morbidity and mortality caused by bacteria. The antibiotics may lose their antibacterial activity when they become resistant to a bacteria. The resistance to different antibiotics in a bacteria is ...

Nowadays the most difficult problem in treatment of bacterial infections is the appearance of resistant bacteria to the antimicrobial agents so that the attention is being drawn to other potential targets. In view of the positive findings of phage therapy, many advantages have been mentioned which utilizes phage therapy over chemotherapy and it seems to be a promising agent to replace the antib...

Introduction: Acinetobacter baumannii is one of the most important nosocomial and community-acquired pathogens that is resistant to many antibiotics. Toxin-antitoxin systems are regulatory systems that maintain bacteria and serve as new targets for Antimicrobial therapies are considered. The prevalence and transcription of these systems in clinical isolates is still unknown. The aim of this stu...
